about the market

Back in 2015, a whole bunch of Etsy Team Captains descended upon Melbourne for the Etsy Team Captain Summit. It was here, amidst the buzz of collaboration, that a spark of an idea was pitched to the room of captains: a simultaneous, nationwide Etsy market, unfolding across five state capitals. Brisbane embraced the challenge with open arms, rallying not one but five dynamic teams—BrisStyle, Australian Wanderahs, Etsy Parents, Etsy Marketing, and the us, Brisbane Etsy.

The inaugural market unfurled its banners within the grandeur of Brisbane City Hall, welcoming a vibrant tapestry of over 60 artisans. The event was nothing short of a sensation, with queues snaking around King George Square and many a stallholder’s inventory swept up before the day’s end.

2016 heralded a call to continue the success of the previous year, and the Brisbane Etsy collective responded with resounding YES, transitioning to the Exhibition Building at the Brisbane Showgrounds. This new chapter allowed for an increase of 150 skilled crafters and purveyors of vintage treasures.

And as they say....the rest is history.

Through the years, our market has blossomed, expanding into a two-day extravaganza—sometimes even three—undaunted by the tempests of Covid and floods to our city. We’ve stood as a beacon for local talent, offering a stage for makers, artists, and designers to showcase their creations to an audience brimming with anticipation.

Today, our market thrives, pulsating with life for two days, biannually. With each gathering, our community weaves tighter, our collective story enriched by every handcrafted piece and every shared smile.

Join us, and be part of a narrative that celebrates creativity, community, and the enduring spirit of Brisbane’s artisans.
